This thesis offers an in-depth study of Anatolian kilims, a multifaceted, millennia-old weaving art, highlighting their history, symbols, manufacturing techniques, and current challenges related to their conservation and promotion. Through a historical and comparative approach, this work also explores the influence of kilim manufacturing techniques on other weaving traditions in different regions of the world. Kilims, characterized by rich geometric and symbolic patterns, reflect ancestral beliefs, cultural identities, and craft practices. Initially hand-woven with natural dyes, these rugs served practical and spiritual purposes while also playing an important socioeconomic role in Anatolian societies. Over time, artisanal techniques have evolved, particularly under the influence of industrialization, leading to a transformation of materials and methods. This thesis also offers an analysis of contemporary challenges in the conservation and promotion of kilims, particularly in museums, exhibitions, and through local and international initiatives aimed at preserving this cultural heritage. A significant section is devoted to comparative studies, which highlight the similarities and differences between kilims and other textile traditions influenced by their techniques.
