The use of cable yarders in forestry operations demands rigorous planning, precise sizing, and accurate installation of cable lines. In this work, a questionnaire was developed to gather insights from professionals with varying levels of experience in cable yarder operations—from technical designers to field operators—with the aim of investigating surveying methodologies, operational practices, and the potential application of digital technologies in the planning, sizing, and installation of cable lines. The study’s objectives include: • Analyzing the balance between traditional tools (compass, inclinometer) and emerging digital solutions (GPS, GIS software, mobile applications), assessing their accuracy, efficiency, and usability. • Identifying the perceived benefits and challenges faced by operators when integrating digital technologies into forestry activities. • Determining professionals’ familiarity with digital tools and their willingness to adopt mobile apps for real-time data collection and decision support. The expected outcomes will provide a detailed overview of the potential of digital tools to enhance operational efficiency, improve safety, and inform appropriate training pathways, thereby contributing to the development of more effective and technologically advanced practices in the forestry sector.
L’utilizzo delle gru a cavo nelle operazioni forestali impone una rigorosa pianificazione, un dimensionamento preciso e un’installazione accurata delle linee. Nel presente lavoro, è stato sviluppato un questionario destinato a raccogliere il contributo di professionisti di varia esperienza nelle operazioni con gru a cavo, dai tecnici agli operatori sul campo, al fine di indagare le metodologie di rilievo, le prassi operative e il potenziale impiego di tecnologie digitali nel processo di pianificazione, dimensionamento e installazione delle linee. Gli obiettivi dello studio includono: • Analizzare il bilanciamento tra strumenti tradizionali (bussola, inclinometro) e soluzioni digitali emergenti (GPS, software GIS, applicazioni mobili), valutandone precisione, efficienza e usabilità. • Identificare i benefici e le criticità percepite dagli operatori nell’integrazione di tecnologie digitali nelle attività forestali. • Verificare il grado di familiarità dei professionisti con gli strumenti digitali e la loro propensione all’adozione di app mobili per la raccolta di dati in tempo reale e il supporto alle decisioni operative. I risultati attesi forniranno una panoramica dettagliata sulle potenzialità degli strumenti digitali nel miglioramento dell’efficienza operativa, nell’aumento della sicurezza e nella definizione di adeguati percorsi formativi, contribuendo allo sviluppo di pratiche più efficaci e tecnologicamente avanzate nel settore forestale.
