Case study: comparison between two Kanban sizing formulas in the HVACR sector

This thesis focuses on the implementation and comparison of two different Kanban sizing formulas currently adopted by the company where I am completing my internship. The analysis was carried out on four client companies operating in the HVACR sector (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration), with the aim of evaluating which of the two methodologies proves to be more effective from both an operational and economic standpoint. The work aims to provide a concrete contribution to the optimization of logistics processes in industrial contexts characterized by high demand variability and managerial complexity.

La presente tesi si concentra sull’implementazione e il confronto di due diverse formule di dimensionamento del sistema Kanban, attualmente adottate dall’azienda presso cui svolgo il tirocinio. L’analisi è stata condotta su quattro aziende clienti operanti nel settore HVACR (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration), con l’obiettivo di valutare quale delle due metodologie risulti più efficace sia dal punto di vista operativo che economico. Il lavoro intende offrire un contributo concreto all’ottimizzazione dei processi logistici in contesti industriali caratterizzati da elevata variabilità della domanda e complessità gestionale.
