This thesis explores the topic of integrated governance of tourist destinations, with a specific focus on the Riviera del Brenta, a territory known for its cultural heritage, the presence of Venetian villas, and an evolving tourism system. Starting from a theoretical framework on the concept of tourist destination, the study addresses the distinctions between corporate and community destinations, destination life cycle models, and the dynamics of destination management and destination marketing, with a particular emphasis on the role of DMOs (Destination Management Organizations) and the importance of participatory and sustainable approaches. The research then analyzes the regional regulatory framework of Veneto, focusing on Regional Law 11/2013, the Strategic Tourism Plan of Veneto 2025–2027, and other regional planning tools. The case study of the Riviera del Brenta is examined in depth, highlighting key coordination efforts between public and private actors, such as the Memorandum of Understanding for Tourism Management and the region’s call for proposals for the transition toward Smart Tourism Destinations. Through a SWOT analysis and an evaluation of the legal models for management (OGDs, participatory foundations), the thesis outlines a strategic proposal for the future governance of the destination. The work was enriched and supported by a practical experience during an internship at the IAT tourist information office located in Villa Widmann, in the heart of the Riviera del Brenta. The office is managed by San Servolo Srl – Servizi Metropolitani di Venezia, a public company owned by the City of Venice. This internship provided a first-hand look at the dynamics of tourist reception and territorial promotion, as well as the operational role of local information offices within the broader strategy of destination management. The internship represented a key opportunity to connect theoretical knowledge with practical applications in the field of tourism governance.
