The aim of this dissertation is to propose an Italian translation of the novella Timur I ego komanda (1940) by the Soviet author Arkadij Gajdar, accompanied by an analysis of the main translation choices. After outlining the formal features of children’s literature, the study examines the dual role, both artistic and pedagogical, that this genre assumed during the Soviet period. Particular attention is paid to the most common genres and themes of that period. Moreover, a section focuses on the specificity of the Russian-Italian language pair and on the challenges that translators face as they approach literary works intended for young readers. The biographical and literary profile of the author is then presented, along with a discussion of the central themes of the novella, the semantic and ideological implications of the title and the reception of the book, which since its first publication has given rise to the youth volunteer groups known as Timurovcy and inspired several film adaptations, as well as parodic retellings. The final section of the dissertation presents the translation proposal and an in-depth analysis of the strategies adopted and the main linguistic and stylistic challenges encountered.
Il presente elaborato propone una traduzione in lingua italiana della novella Timur i ego Komanda (1940) di Arkadij Gajdar, accompagnata da un'analisi delle principali scelte traduttive. Dopo un inquadramento delle caratteristiche formali della letteratura per l'infanzia, viene approfondito il duplice ruolo, artistico e pedagogico, che rivestì nel periodo sovietico con attenzione ai principali generi narrativi e alle trame più diffuse in quell'epoca. Una sezione è dedicata alla specificità della coppia linguistica russo-italiano e alle sfide che il traduttore deve affrontare nella resa di opere destinate a un pubblico giovanile. A seguire viene presentato il profilo biografico e letterario dell'autore, insieme a una riflessione sui temi centrali della novella, sulla valenza semantica e ideologica del titolo, e sulla ricezione dell’opera che, sin dalla sua prima pubblicazione, ha dato origine a gruppi giovanili di volontariato denominati "Timurovcy", e ha ispirato numerosi adattamenti cinematografici e rielaborazioni parodiche. La parte conclusiva dell'elaborato presenta la proposta di traduzione e un approfondimento sulle strategie scelte e sulle principali sfide linguistiche e stilistiche affrontate.
