The Impact of China Pakistan Economic Corridor on Local development of Gilgit Baltistan: A local Community Perspective.

China Pakistan Economic Corridor is an infrastructure and development project. It is under construction and it part of China’s belt and Road initiatives. The China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a transformative initiative in Gilgit Baltistan that brought many significant changes in the region. This study will examine the impacts of CPEC on the region. It mainly focuses on the changes that has been occurred after CPEC such as socio-economic includes: traditional occupation, access to resources, cultural heritage and community participation. By analyzing the perception of the local community, the results will show in what ways the project influence in the region, what are the effects of this project on the given key points. How infrastructure development and different economic opportunities bring changes in the community, concurrently how these socioeconomic activities influence the cultural heritage and to assess the community participation. Furthermore, the findings of the study will highlight the opportunities, the changes in the region and the challenges faced by the locals and their contribution towards the sustainable development.
