Child motor development represents a complex and gradual process, marked by fundamental stages that reflect neuromuscular, cognitive, emotional, and social maturation. This thesis analyzes the main phases of motor development from birth, starting with neonatal reflexes, progressing to basic motor patterns, and culminating in gross motor skills and fine motor skills, which evolve synergistically with coordinative abilities. Special attention has been devoted to investigating the beneficial effects of physical activity, active play, and physical and sensory stimulation at different stages of a child’s life and development, through a literature review. Furthermore, one section of the project focuses on the importance of physical exercise for children with ADHD (Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder) as an additional treatment alongside pharmacological therapy to improve symptoms. The work therefore aims to provide an overview of practical interventions that can be designed to support the proper and complete motor and cognitive development of children, considering how movement has been shown to have positive effects on executive functions and how it influences academic performance.

Abstract
The work therefore aims to provide an overview of practical interventions that can be designed to support the proper and complete motor and cognitive development of children, considering how movement has been shown to have positive effects on executive functions and how it influences academic performance.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
