The Auronzo di Cadore Hospital represents one of the most significant experiences in the application of Vladimir Hudolin’s ecological–social model within a hospital and community context. Originally conceived as a mountain healthcare facility with a rehabilitative vocation, the Alcohol Rehabilitation Unit, has successfully integrated the clinical, familial, and community dimensions of treatment for Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD). The operational model is based on close collaboration among a multidisciplinary team, Addiction Services (Ser.D.), Clubs of Treated Alcoholics (CAT), and general practitioners. This synergy has made it possible to create a unified therapeutic pathway that accompanies patients from the acute detoxification phase to social reintegration, ensuring continuity of care and a reduction in relapse rates. The Hudolin-based approach adopted in the Auronzo context is characterized by the centrality of the family, the promotion of complete abstinence, and the activation of community-based processes of shared responsibility. The Center’s experience also highlights the importance of the connection between hospital and community, particularly within a mountain setting marked by strong local identity and social cohesion. Preliminary results, assessed through clinical and psychosocial indicators, show a significant reduction in relapses within the first six months of treatment, an improvement in quality of life, and a strengthening of family support networks. The Auronzo model thus emerges as a virtuous example of integrated medicine, capable of combining science, humanity, and community in the treatment of addiction.

Abstract
The Auronzo model thus emerges as a virtuous example of integrated medicine, capable of combining science, humanity, and community in the treatment of addiction.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
