Dance Movement Therapy (DMT) is one of the most widely applied creative arts therapies in mental health contexts, due to its ability to promote psychophysical well-being and improve quality of life through innovative techniques and programs. ASCATEC, a non-governmental organization based in the Canary Islands, operates according to the recovery model, placing at the center the promotion and protection of the health of individuals diagnosed with chronic psychiatric disorders. This research project aims to investigate whether, and to what extent, participation in DMT workshops has contributed to strengthening the personal autonomy of service users. Specifically, the analysis focuses on the occupational, housing, economic, and social dimensions, with the objective of understanding the impact that such a therapeutic pathway may have on the process of empowerment and inclusion of the individuals involved.
