The research project developed in this thesis aims to explore the perception (awareness, concerns, and sense of responsibility) of a specific group of people towards the ecological crisis. The goal is to understand how young adults in the city of Padua perceive the ecological crisis and how factors such as gender, occupation, educational background, and family background influence their views and attitudes on this issue. In particular, the focus will be on aspects such as: the perceived severity of the environmental emergency, the importance attributed to current solutions, the degree of perceived responsibility, and possible proposals for alternative solutions. The analysis is carried out on young people because the literature shows that youth is a constant variable in predicting sensitivity to ecological issues. The choice of Padua is motivated, on the one hand, by the strong student presence in the city, and on the other hand, by the fact that the municipal administration is engaged in several sustainability initiatives, such as Ecological Sundays, the European Sustainable Mobility Week, and above all, the ZeroNet Emissions Target by 2030. It will be interesting to investigate whether the presence of these initiatives contributes to shaping young people’s perceptions and attitudes towards environmental issues. The research also aims to highlight whether, and in what ways, socio-cultural factors such as gender, family background, education, and occupation influence people’s opinions and actions.
