This thesis addresses the situation where a public space can become a place where risk is perceived, where gender-based violence takes root and operates even when it is unseen. Violence against women in public places is a phenomenon that, while often underestimated, significantly impacts freedom of movement, autonomy, and well-being. After reconstructing the underlying theoretical and regulatory framework, with particular attention to sociological studies and relevant national and international statistical data, the research focuses on analyzing women's perceptions of safety in a local urban context, specifically the municipality of Monselice. To this end, a questionnaire was developed and shared to capture the experiences, fears, and strategies adopted in the daily lives of women who live or frequent the municipality. The objective is to understand the extent to which the perception of violence influences the use of public spaces and which social and cultural dynamics contribute to strengthening or mitigating the sense of insecurity, given that even well-lit streets are not enough to make women feel safe. The expected results aim to offer useful insights not only from a scientific perspective but also for the development of policies and practices aimed at ensuring greater safety and inclusiveness in public spaces.

Abstract
This thesis addresses the situation where a public space can become a place where risk is perceived, where gender-based violence takes root and operates even when it is unseen.
