This research aims to analyze the phenomenon of the gender gap within the Italian and Finnish school systems, with particular attention to the role of curricula, teaching methodologies, and educational approaches in either reducing or maintaining gender inequalities. The study is grounded in the understanding that gender differences are not natural givens but rather the result of a social construction shaped by family, school, and society. From this perspective, the investigation develops through a comparative analysis of the two educational models, focusing specifically on the teaching of foreign languages, STEM subjects, the use of digital technologies, and inclusive teaching practices. The objective is to understand how educational choices can influence gender stereotypes and affect students’ personal and professional opportunities. The research is based on the analysis of international scientific literature and recent empirical studies, with the aim of highlighting effective strategies for building a school system capable of promoting gender equity and equal opportunities.
La presente ricerca intende analizzare il fenomeno del gender gap nei sistemi scolastici italiano e finlandese, con particolare attenzione al ruolo che curricoli, metodologie didattiche e approcci educativi assumono nella riduzione o nel mantenimento delle disuguaglianze di genere. L’indagine si fonda sulla consapevolezza che le differenze di genere non costituiscono un dato naturale, ma sono il prodotto di una costruzione sociale che attraversa famiglia, scuola e società. A partire da questa prospettiva, lo studio si sviluppa attraverso un confronto comparativo tra i due modelli scolastici, con riferimento specifico all’insegnamento delle lingue straniere, alle materie STEM, all’uso delle tecnologie digitali e alle pratiche didattiche inclusive. L’obiettivo è comprendere in che modo le scelte educative possano incidere sugli stereotipi di genere e sulle opportunità di sviluppo personale e professionale degli studenti. La ricerca si fonda sull’analisi della letteratura scientifica internazionale e su studi empirici recenti, con l’intento di evidenziare strategie efficaci per la costruzione di una scuola capace di promuovere equità di genere e pari opportunità.
