The thesis “The Evolution of Wearable Devices: Product Innovation, Development, and Servitization” investigates the development of wearables, from early models to today’s service-oriented approaches. After defining wearable devices and outlining their history and main fields of application, the study examines the global market and the strategies of leading firms. The focus is on servitization, understood as the transition from product-based models to service-based ones, including subscriptions, digital updates, and integrated platforms. Case studies of Fitbit and Whoop illustrate both the benefits and challenges of this shift, particularly regarding economic sustainability, customer retention, and competitive differentiation. The findings suggest that servitization can act as a strategic growth driver in the wearable sector, while also highlighting the obstacles that remain for its long-term scalability and sustainability.

Abstract
The findings suggest that servitization can act as a strategic growth driver in the wearable sector, while also highlighting the obstacles that remain for its long-term scalability and sustainability.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
