This dissertation analyzes the symbolic, aesthetic, and ideological value of the flower within the Italian Futurist movement, focusing on its transformation from the Symbolist and Art Nouveau traditions. Emblematic of delicacy and contemplation, the flower became a dynamic element in Futurism, sometimes mechanized, fragmented, or functionalized to celebrate speed, energy, and its own modernity. After an introduction to the iconographic evolution of the flower in art between the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, the study focuses on the theoretical texts of the Futurist manifestos and the works of Giacomo Balla, in which the floral motif is reinterpreted through geometric shapes, lines of force, and bright colors. The Futurist flower sheds its romantic and naturalistic aura to take on a new, more abstract and conceptual role, linked to the idea of transformation and progress. The research aims to demonstrate how this seemingly ephemeral subject can become a key to understanding the profound cultural and artistic transformations of the early twentieth century.

Abstract
The research aims to demonstrate how this seemingly ephemeral subject can become a key to understanding the profound cultural and artistic transformations of the early twentieth century.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
