The thesis analyzes Elliot Page as a figure of contemporary stardom, examining the relationship between his private life and public career and the evolution of his personal and professional image. The first chapter provides a historical overview of the phenomenon of film stardom and how it has evolved through the presence of social media. It examines how the advent of social media has transformed the figure of the star, extending his visibility beyond the theater and redefining the boundaries between artistic performance and private life. The second chapter focuses on Page's stardom: from initially recognized as a young, independent talent, often associated with outsider or rebellious roles, to how his star status has taken on new nuances with his success, coming out, and activism. The third chapter continues the analysis of how Page's personal evolution is reflected in the roles he played before and after his two coming outs: Juno (2007), which established him as a star in a heteronormative narrative, Freeheld (2015), which marked a turning point in his LGBTQIA+ activism, the series The Umbrella Academy (2019-2024), in which his transition was organically integrated into the plot, and finally Close to You (2023) in which Page tackles a deeply personal role on the theme of gender identity.

La tesi analizza Elliot Page come figura del divismo contemporaneo, analizzando il rapporto tra la vita privata e la carriera pubblica e l’evoluzione della sua immagine personale e professionale. Nel primo capitolo viene fornita una panoramica storica sul fenomeno del divismo cinematografico e come si è evoluto tramite la presenza dei social media, esaminando come l'avvento dei social abbia trasformato la figura del divo, portando la sua visibilità oltre la sala del cinema e ridefinendo i confini tra performance artistica e vita privata. Nel secondo capitolo l'analisi si focalizza sul divismo di Page: da inizialmente riconosciuto come giovane talento indipendente, spesso legato a ruoli di outsider o ribelli, a come il suo status divistico ha assunto nuove sfumature con i successi ottenuti, i coming out e l'attivismo. Il terzo capitolo continua l’analisi di come l’evoluzione personale di Page si rifletta nei ruoli che ha interpretato prima e dopo i due coming out: Juno (2007), che lo consacrò star in una narrazione eteronormativa, Freeheld (2015), che segnò un punto di svolta nel suo attivismo LGBTQIA+, la serie The Umbrella Academy (2019-2024), in cui la sua transizione è stata integrata organicamente nella trama, e infine Close to You (2023) in cui Page affronta un ruolo profondamente personale sulla tematica dell'identità di genere.
