The thesis is based on the internship experience carried out at Acciaierie Valbruna S.p.A., in the Vicenza plant, and focuses on the analysis of the company’s inventory management system, with particular attention to its Italian distribution branches. The first part describes the current inventory management system, highlighting its main operational and organizational criticalities. Subsequently, the focus shifts to the Cormano distribution branch, the most significant one in Italy, whose warehouse is analyzed through three methodologies: ABC analysis (based on sales volumes and average inventory levels), XYZ analysis (related to demand variability), and Runners–Repeaters–Strangers (RRS) analysis (based on demand frequency). Finally, someimprovement proposals are presented, aimed at optimizing inventory management, along with an assessment of the critical issues and potential implications associated with their implementation.
