This thesis aims to analyse the complex and sensitive phenomenon of Canadian immigration and, more closely, of Vancouver. The first chapter outlines the Canadian context from a geographical and historical point of view. This state, having a colonial past, has always had an intricate connection with the concept of immigration. The second one focus on the urban policies and on the relationship between immigration-housing and immigration-job market. Finally, the last chapter summaries the opportunities offered by the city of Vancouver to its population, in particular to immigrants.
Questa tesi ha come scopo l’indagine sulle opportunità di integrazione che offre la città di Vancouver agli immigrati di altri paesi. Il primo capitolo si concentra sulla descrizione e l’analisi del contesto storico e geografico della città, cosa fondamentale per comprendere lo status attuale della città. Nel secondo capitolo si va ad approfondire il fenomeno dell’immigrazione Canadese, in particolar modo su come esso si rifletta sull’assetto urbano. Infine nell’ultimo capitolo si affrontano le opportunità e i servizi che Vancouver offre per costruire la sua comunità multiculturale.
