The study aims to examine the character of Scipione Pulzone da Gaeta, at the same time highlighting the historical context of late 16th century Italy. The thesis focuses on the biography of the artist from '500 to the present day, then analyzes the historical context and the artistic path of the artist, starting from his masters and arriving at his production of portraits. At the end, focuses on his production of sacred art and how it has been influenced and is the result of Reformed Christianity following the Council of Trent.
Lo studio si propone di esaminare il carattere di Scipione Pulzone da Gaeta, evidenziando nel contempo il contesto storico dell'Italia del tardo XVI secolo. La tesi si focalizza sulla biografia dell'artista dal '500 ai giorni nostri, quindi analizza il contesto storico e il percorso artistico dell'artista, partendo dai suoi maestri ed arrivando alla sua produzione di ritratti. Al termine, ci si concentra sulla sua produzione di arte sacra e su come essa sia stata influenzata e sia frutto del Cristianesimo Riformato in seguito al Concilio di Trento.
