This thesis aims to analyse Breaking Bad in all its complexity, exploring the factors that determined its success and lasting impact in Italy. The first chapter examines the Golden Age of Television in the United States, with the birth of a new television era characterised by complex series such as Breaking Bad, and the parallel with the evolution of television series in Italy. The second chapter analyses the first distribution channels of the series and the crucial role of Netflix in its dissemination and success in Italy. It examines the evolution of Netflix, its entry into the Italian market and explores the practical strategies adopted to promote Breaking Bad and make it a global phenomenon. The third chapter analyses the role of social networks in keeping the public's attention on Breaking Bad, focusing on the strategies adopted by Netflix and AXN. In particular, the analysis will examine the content published by AXN Italia on Facebook in the period 2013–2014 and that disseminated by Netflix Italia between 2019 and 2025 on Instagram, highlighting how this content has helped to strengthen the fandom and maintain interest in the series even more than a decade after its conclusion.
