This thesis examines the metamorphosis of the sacred in modernity, moving past the religious decline thesis in favor of a functional "relocation" toward technology . By distinguishing religion as an institution from the sacred as a function (Demerath), it explores how science inherits the role of providing meaning and collective stability . The study delves into the "religion of technology," where numinous sentiment invests the digital horizon to satisfy persistent anthropological needs . Finally, generative artificial intelligence is interpreted as the reactivation of the ancient oracular institution: an "accelerated oracle" to which humans delegate the orientation of action to manage uncertainty through scientific authority.

Questa tesi analizza la metamorfosi del sacro nella modernità, superando la tesi del declino religioso a favore di un "trasloco" funzionale verso la tecnica . Distinguendo la religione come istituzione dal sacro come funzione (Demerath), si esamina come la scienza erediti il compito di fornire senso e stabilità collettiva .
