The paper aims to analyze the Italian Risorgimento process, examining its multiple generative matrices, anatomy, and diverse historiographical interpretations. It will begin with a reading of the national-patriotic demands generated during the French three-year period, then move through the Restoration, the revolutionary uprisings, and the first two wars of independence, culminating in the proclamation of Unification and the completion of the national project. The construction proposed here aims to be a reading of the Risorgimento phenomenon that takes into account the polysemic and polychromatic fabric of the tricolor flag; imbued with often divergent sentiments, ideas, and traditions, which are intertwined with often antagonistic dynamics and destinies. The first chapter aims to expose the development of the Risorgimento phenomenon, analyzing its events and main actors. The second chapter illustrates and discusses revisionist theses regarding the entire unification process, paying particular attention to the crimes, brigandage, and alleged massacres that occurred with the creation of the Kingdom of Italy. It explores the social, cultural, historical, and economic coordinates, identifiable as possible sources of accusations and considerations of the phantom “Antistoria” Risorgimento. The third chapter addresses some aspects of today's public debate and, by reconstructing the complex and heterogeneous mosaic depicting the memory and legacy of the Risorgimento, we will proceed to hybridize a comprehensive assessment, as far as possible, of the meaning and contradictions of the long Italian nineteenth century, with a critical look at the present.

Abstract
The third chapter addresses some aspects of today's public debate and, by reconstructing the complex and heterogeneous mosaic depicting the memory and legacy of the Risorgimento, we will proceed to hybridize a comprehensive assessment, as far as possible, of the meaning and contradictions of the long Italian nineteenth century, with a critical look at the present.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
