L’ITALIA E IL CILE TRA DIPLOMAZIA E DIRITTI UMANI: LE RELAZIONI ITALO-CILENE DAL 1973 E LA DITTATURA DI AUGUSTO PINOCHET

The thesis aims to analyze the diplomatic relations between Chile and Italy during the years of Augusto Pinochet's military coup against the democratically elected socialist president Salvador Allende. By using primary archival sources, it has been possible to investigate the Italo-Chilean relations of those years. In particular, the thesis will examine the relations between the political parties of the two countries, it will specifically investigate Pinochet's dictatorship and the internal dynamics of Chile during those years to understand the suffering of the Chilean people, and it will analyze the role that Italy played in the events, especially in terms of solidarity and public opinion.

La Tesi intende analizzare i rapporti diplomatici tra Cile ed Italia durante gli anni del colpo di stato militare di Augusto Pinochet ai danni del presidente democratico socialista Salvador Allende, tramite l'utilizzo di fonti primarie archivistiche è stato possibile investigare le relazioni italo-cilene di quegli anni, in particolare si analizzerà le relazioni tra i partiti politici dei due paesi, si investigherà in particolare la dittatura di Pinochet e le dinamiche interne del Cile di quegli anni per comprendere le sofferenze del popolo cileno, si analizzerà il ruolo che l'Italia ha avuto nella vicenda sopra tutto in termini di solidarietà e d'opinione pubblica.
