This thesis examines the transition to adulthood in individuals with intellectual disability from a psychological perspective, analyzing a case study and proposing assessment tools and intervention methods to enhance daily functioning and overall well-being. Chapter one surveys the psychological literature on intellectual disability (ID), focusing on the transition to adulthood and its associated developmental and psychosocial challenges. The second chapter focuses on the analysis of a case study, which is examined in relation to existing theoretical and empirical research. Chapter three outlines psychological instruments and intervention techniques to address identified needs of the case study and promote his autonomy, adaptation, and his quality of life.
Questa tesi esamina il passaggio all’età adulta negli individui con disabilità intellettiva da una prospettiva psicologica, analizzando un caso studio e proponendo strumenti di valutazione e metodi di intervento per migliorare il funzionamento quotidiano e il benessere complessivo. Il primo capitolo passa in rassegna la letteratura psicologica sulla disabilità intellettiva (DI), concentrandosi sul passaggio all’età adulta e sulle relative sfide evolutive e psicosociali. Il secondo capitolo si concentra sull’analisi del caso studio, esaminato in relazione alle ricerche teoriche ed empiriche esistenti. Il terzo capitolo illustra strumenti psicologici e tecniche di intervento volti a rispondere ai bisogni identificati nel caso studio e a promuovere la sua autonomia, adattamento e qualità della vita.
