Artificial Intelligence or perhaps another way in which most people refer to it as AI is becoming an integral part of the modern workforce. It is impacting everything as we know it and is helping to shape hiring decisions into everyday work tasks. As organizations continue to increasingly use AI to make their operations more efficient and manage vast amounts of information, this is causing workers to increasingly adapt to this technology that sometimes seems confusing, invasive, complicated, or even unpredictable. The goal of this thesis paper is to explore and identify the benefits and challenges that come with the ever-increasing use of AI in the workforce, with the purpose of focusing on how AI impacts employee well-being, fairness, autonomy, and even human rights. In recent times, there has been research indicating that AI can actually contribute to improving certain dimensions of work life, such as reducing the need for repetitive tasks or improving the process of matching applicants with available positions, which can, of course, contribute to health, happiness, and comfort for some employees (Chuang et al., 2025; Valtonen et al., 2025). Nevertheless, there has also been research indicating negative outcomes of AI, such as anxiety, feelings of job insecurity, decreased psychological safety, and emotional stress when AI is not transparent and is viewed as unfair (Hu et al., 2025; Kim et al., 2025). This paper follows an interdisciplinary approach, drawing from different subject matters pertinent to the topic of interest. This ranges from work and organizational psychology to human rights and current research in AI. This paper does not seek to focus on just the positives or solely the negative aspects of AI, but instead, to evaluate the different options and risks associated with it and how it affects the workforce and our everyday lives. This paper seeks to provide an in-depth analysis of how AI can be integrated into the workforce in line with human dignity and work ethics.
