This thesis is a systematic review summarizing recent human studies investigating the relationship between probiotic supplementation and psychological and cognitive outcomes through the gut–brain axis. A structured literature search was conducted in PubMed, focusing on randomized controlled trials published within the last ten years according to the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. The review summarizes study characteristics, populations, outcome domains, and assessment tools used to evaluate psychological and cognitive effects of probiotics. By synthesizing current evidence, this thesis aims to provide an updated overview of research trends in this field.
