The Differences in Energy Efficiency Policies Between Member States: Legal and Socio-Political Consequences On the European Energy Policy

This thesis examines the foundations of energy law and energy efficiency within the European Union. It provides and in-depth analysis of the Energy Efficiency Directive (EU) 2023/1791, situating it within the broader legal and socio-political framework of EU energy governance. This analysis enables a comparative assessment of four States, focusing on the national transposition and implementation of the Directive, and the resulting legal and political divergencies. The thesis concludes by exploring future developments in EU energy efficiency policy, assessing future challenges and opportunities in light of legal and socio-political dynamics.
