This thesis investigates phototherapy as a meeting point between art and psychology, exploring the power of photographic images to reveal, transform, and heal. The research unfolds along two main paths: a theoretical analysis, tracing the historical and methodological foundations of phototherapy through the works of Judy Weiser, Cristina Núñez, Roland Barthes, and Susan Sontag; and an experiential inquiry, based on interviews with Italian professionals working in artistic, clinical, and psychocorporal fields. Photography is thus examined not merely as an aesthetic language, but as a tool for self-awareness and emotional re-elaboration, able to reflect identity, memory, and inner experiences. Through this dual perspective, the thesis aims to show how the act of portraying oneself can become an act of care: a way of rediscovering, of truly seeing oneself, and of finding within one’s own image the potential for renewal.

Abstract
Through this dual perspective, the thesis aims to show how the act of portraying oneself can become an act of care: a way of rediscovering, of truly seeing oneself, and of finding within one’s own image the potential for renewal.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
