The paper aims to observe and analyse the phenomenon of tourism in its various aspects. Tourism is one of the economic sectors with the greatest impact in the Veneto Region, which has been the most visited region in Italy for years, and its numbers are constantly growing, despite the setback caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. The topic of tourism is addressed from a general perspective, examining its definition and history and analysing the current national and international context, before focusing on the concept of a tourism destination and the factors influencing its existence and appeal. Contemporary models of destination governance and management are then presented and analysed by looking at the subjects of destination management and destination marketing. The document then turns to the tourism context of the Veneto Region, examining its current state and analysing the legislation in force regarding tourism. In particular, the paper focuses on the "Terme e Colli Euganei" destination, one of the region's main attractions, which welcomes hundreds of thousends of tourists every year, thanks to the presence of thermal springs that have been used and known for their benefits since ancient times. An analysis of the destination is carried out, tracing its development up to the present day, during which the destination is undergoing a period of transition and renewal, whilst also incorporating the Euganean Hills area. The governance model of the destination is also analysed, managed bye the DMO (Destination Management Organisation) "Terme e Colli Euganei", established in 2016 in accordance with regional legislation guidelines. Furthermore, the thesis aims to analyse the potential benefits for the Euganean hills and thermal area, the city of Padua and the rest of the provincial territory following the establishment of the "Fondazione Turismo Padova, Terme e Colli Euganei", created with the aim of developing an integrated offer that promotes the various destinations within the area, seeking to eliminate fragmentation between them and presenting the province as a single destination, utilising the most advanced resources and expertise to manage a tourism destination.
