This study investigated the effect of organisational communication on employee engagement at the Gambia Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA). Improving employee motivation, job happiness, and performance all depend heavily on effective communication. Transparent and consistent communication greatly increases engagement, whereas poor communication results in misunderstandings, low morale, and decreased productivity, according to studies using mixed techniques including surveys and interviews. It sought to ascertain the link between organisational communication and employee engagement, evaluate employee engagement levels, identify communication challenges impacting engagement, and examine current organisational communication methods. Data was collected from 259 respondents using structured questionnaires in a descriptive study design. The findings found that communication methods inside the GCAA were generally poor, with low mean ratings indicating issues with information flow, timeliness, feedback systems, and transparency. However, employee engagement levels were judged to be quite high, with employees showing passion, commitment, and devotion to the organisation despite communication difficulties. The survey also found critical communication difficulties, such as poor feedback systems, departmental silos, communication delays, reliance on obsolete communication platforms, and the use of technical jargon, all of which had a negative impact on employee engagement. Pearson correlation and hypothesis testing revealed a substantial positive association between organisational communication and employee engagement (r =.597, p <.001). This suggests that effective communication increases job satisfaction, motivation, loyalty, and overall employee engagement, whereas bad communication diminishes these results. The study shows that communication is an important driver of participation at the GCAA. It suggests that management improve internal communication practices by enhancing feedback systems, ensuring timely information flow, removing departmental obstacles, and investing in cutting-edge communication tools. By addressing these issues, GCAA may create a more engaged, motivated, and productive workforce, thus increasing organisational effectiveness.

Abstract
By addressing these issues, GCAA may create a more engaged, motivated, and productive workforce, thus increasing organisational effectiveness.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
