Entre traduction théâtrale et révision: La Conférence des oiseaux de Jean-Claude Carrière

This thesis is situated within the field of theatre translation and translation revision studies. It presents and analyses an Italian translation of La conférence des oiseaux, a theatrical text by Jean-Claude Carrière, produced by the candidate and examined through its development across different translation proposals and revision interventions. The corpus of analysis makes it possible to highlight several issues specific to theatre translation, particularly those related to orality, performability, and textual rhythm, which are central aspects in the stage rendering of a dramatic text. The analysis makes use of a revision grid developed on the basis of the main theoretical contributions in the field and applied from both a comparative and a monolingual perspective, with the aim of assessing the quality of the translated text and the coherence of the translation choices. The thesis aims to show how the practice of theatre translation, supported by systematic revision work, contributes to the construction of a coherent text that is functional for the stage and appropriate for its intended audience.

La presente tesi si colloca nell’ambito degli studi sulla traduzione teatrale e sulla revisione della traduzione. L’elaborato presenta e analizza una traduzione italiana de La conférence des oiseaux, testo teatrale di Jean-Claude Carrière, realizzata dalla candidata, osservata nel suo sviluppo attraverso differenti proposte traduttive e interventi di revisione. Il corpus di analisi consente di mettere in luce alcune problematiche specifiche della traduzione teatrale, in particolare quelle legate all’oralità, alla recitabilità e al ritmo del testo, aspetti centrali nella resa scenica di un testo drammatico. L’analisi si avvale di una griglia di revisione elaborata sulla base dei principali contributi teorici in materia e applicata in prospettiva sia comparativa sia monolingue, con l’obiettivo di valutare la qualità del testo tradotto e la coerenza delle scelte traduttive. La tesi intende mostrare come la pratica della traduzione teatrale, affiancata da un lavoro sistematico di revisione, contribuisca alla costruzione di un testo coerente, funzionale alla scena e adeguato al pubblico di riferimento.
