Genere e migrazione: un’analisi multidimensionale tra rimesse finanziarie e rimesse sociali

This thesis explores the issue of migration through a gender lens. The study offers a global overview of the phenomenon, with particular attention to female migration and its underlying drivers. Subsequently, the analysis focuses on the importance of social and financial remittances and how these, depending on the host country, can either favor the reduction of gender inequalities or, conversely, transfer more restrictive social norms. The work concludes by observing how the migratory experience, along with the related financial remittances, can reduce poverty and promote female empowerment.

L'elaborato approfondisce la tematica della migrazione analizzata attraverso una lente di genere. Lo studio offre una visione globale del fenomeno, con particolare attenzione alla migrazione femminile e ai relativi driver. Successivamente, l'analisi si focalizza sull'importanza delle rimesse sociali e finanziarie e su come esse, in funzione del paese di destinazione, possano favorire la riduzione delle disparità di genere o, al contrario, trasferire norme sociali più restrittive. Il lavoro si conclude osservando in che modo l'esperienza migratoria, con le relative rimesse finanziarie, possa ridurre la povertà e promuovere l'empowerment femminile.
