The following thesis investigates the “Transfer Paradox” within the field of traffic psychology, analyzing how exposure to racing games can have contrasting effects on road user behavior. The analysis is based on a literature review employing methodological assessment tools, such as the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale (NOS) for Risk of Bias assessment; the study focuses on how skill acquisition can lead to a deterioration in road safety through the adoption of higher-risk behaviors. The literature review revealed that interaction with video games fosters positive transfer by optimizing visuomotor control and lane keeping, and by enhancing spatial visual attention (Useful Field of View - UFOV); on the other hand, however, a negative transfer emerges, defined as the “Paradox Effect”, whereby the refinement of these skills translates not into greater road safety, but into an increase in risk-taking behaviors. In conclusion, the work highlights the intrinsic conflict between technical competence and the strategic integrity of the driver, offering relevant implications for the development of road safety education programs and for ethical game design capable of balancing the gaming experience with real-world risk awareness.

Abstract
In conclusion, the work highlights the intrinsic conflict between technical competence and the strategic integrity of the driver, offering relevant implications for the development of road safety education programs and for ethical game design capable of balancing the gaming experience with real-world risk awareness.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
