Palliative care represents an emotionally charged work environment, characterized by constant exposure to suffering, death, and complex relational dynamics. In this context, healthcare professionals and caregivers are particularly vulnerable to the development of occupational burnout, defined by Maslach and Jackson as a syndrome of emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and reduced personal fulfillment. This study aims to explore and systematize the main work-related, emotional, and organizational factors associated with burnout in professional caregivers involved in palliative care, with the aim of informing the design of educational interventions aimed at preventing this phenomenon. The study contributes to broadening the understanding of burnout in palliative care and offers useful insights for the development of accessible educational interventions and support policies for care professionals.
