This thesis project aims to analyze the impact of cultural biases in clinical psychology and psychotherapy practice in order to highlight treatment's differences between individuals belonging to the dominant culture and those belonging to racialized and discriminated groups. As a theoretical foundation for the empirical research, this study presents a review of the literature regarding various conceptualizations of psychology, highlighting the limitations of Western psychology and presenting alternative approaches that are more aware of multiculturalism. This is followed by an overview of how biases operate and their implications in the clinical therapeutic context. To answer the research's question, the “Psychologists Approaching Diversity” questionnaire was administered to 182 psychologists and psychotherapists to investigate their attitudes toward stereotypes, ethnocentrism, and microaggressions, which, according to the results, are present with moderate to high frequency. In general, the study and analysis of the literature allow us to conclude that biases profoundly influence the way in which therapies and diagnoses are delivered, highlighting the importance of encouraging the development of clinical practices that are more fair, inclusive, and aware of multiculturalism.

Abstract
In general, the study and analysis of the literature allow us to conclude that biases profoundly influence the way in which therapies and diagnoses are delivered, highlighting the importance of encouraging the development of clinical practices that are more fair, inclusive, and aware of multiculturalism.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
