This paper presents the ERP system implementation project undertaken by Sacchificio Veneto, a small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) based in Verona and operating in the B2B packaging sector. This project originated in a critical context, in which the previous ERP system had become obsolete and was causing frequent disruptions to company operations. The purpose of this thesis is to evaluate whether an intervention undertaken in such an environment can serve as a strategic tool for value creation by enhancing management control capabilities and process integration. By adopting the new Panthera ERP system, Sacchificio Veneto S.p.A. successfully resolved the critical issues affecting its previous information system and overcame technical limitations that were hindering business growth. The new solution proved particularly effective in streamlining numerous operational processes, improving the management of product technical characteristics, and ultimately reducing overall inefficiencies. Sacchificio Veneto’s main solutions for optimizing resource planning and utilization are based on the definition of production models, the configuration of items, and the adoption of an MRP system. Furthermore, Panthera includes batch production control functionalities and supports integration with external MES systems, improving information flow between the two systems and ensuring up-to-date information on production progress. The cost–benefit evaluation of the project conducted in this thesis addresses the initial research question, demonstrating that, although the intervention was primarily aimed at resolving a critical business issue, the adoption of the features introduced by the Panthera ERP system has also generated significant tangible economic benefits. These benefits originate mainly in the commercial and procurement areas, while also having a positive impact on production and overall business management. Furthermore, the analysis shows that Panthera provides a solid foundation for future developments, which may further enhance its potential.
