This thesis aims to analyze the phenomenon of sexual harassment through a study on the effects of framing on male commitment. The first chapters will examine the theoretical and social context of sexual harassment, the influence of the media, and the perspectives of perpetrators, victims, and bystanders. In addition, particular attention will be paid to prevention measures, awareness campaigns, and the framing effect. The study was conducted by creating and administering a questionnaire on sexual harassment, aimed at a male target audience only. Within the questionnaire, three videos (representing the experimental manipulation) depicting sexual harassment from the perspectives of the victim, the harasser, and the bystander were randomized among the participants. The aim is to examine the relationship between different types of framing and male involvement as shown in the questionnaire responses. The research involved a sample of N=338 male participants, with an average age of 31.25 years (SD=11.17). Before the manipulation item, participants were also asked questions related to the measurement of Right Wing Authoritarianism (RWA scale), with reliability of α=0.83, and Social Dominance Orientation (SDO scale), with reliability of α=0.79. The post-manipulation variables related to: Emotional resonance; Impressions of the video; Commitment (or Involvement); Collective Action; Help for victims; Intervention in harassment; Behavioral Intentions; Post-Video Emotions and Knowledge about sexual harassment. Data analysis and results show a generally positive correlation between the different types of framing and involvement in the questionnaire, particularly for the Bystander frame. However, due to the small sample size, the study is not representative of the entire male population in Italy.
