Excessive use of digital technologies represents one of the most relevant challenges for young people’s health. Several studies have shown that prolonged screen exposure can negatively affect cognitive, emotional, and physical development, increasing the risk of attention disorders, sleep disturbances, relational difficulties, sedentary behavior, and related conditions such as obesity and cardiovascular diseases. At the same time, the wide availability of digital content influences learning and memory processes, reducing the capacity for deep processing and fostering mechanisms of technological dependence. This thesis, through a literature review, analyzes the effects of excessive technology use among young people and the role of the school nurse in prevention, education, and the promotion of digital health. In a context where the school nurse is not yet formally established in Italy, but is already consolidated in other European countries, the need to introduce this professional figure emerges as essential to support students, families, and educational communities in addressing digital-related risks. The results of the review highlight the urgency of integrated educational and preventive strategies, where the school nurse can play a key role in promoting responsible technology use and contributing to the creation of healthier and safer digital environments.

Abstract
The results of the review highlight the urgency of integrated educational and preventive strategies, where the school nurse can play a key role in promoting responsible technology use and contributing to the creation of healthier and safer digital environments.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
