This thesis aims to explore psychosocial well-being in adolescence as a complex and multidimensional construct, in order to identify and understand the complex network of individual, relational, environmental, and contextual factors that influence its development. This is through the analysis of an intervention carried out within upper secondary schools in the Veneto region, part of the broader P.S.I.CO. project – Percorsi di Salute Individuale e di Comunità. Chapter 1 introduces the construct of psychosocial well-being from a multidimensional perspective, through the classical theories of Bronfenbrenner and Prilleltensky and some insights from more recent literature. This is followed by a brief analysis of the developmental stage of adolescence, explored through an intersectional and multifactorial lens, which considers the multiple constructs and contexts that characterize the adolescent experience. Lastly, the school context is explored as a privileged place for promoting psychosocial well-being. Chapter 2 details the research in methodological terms, which involved 294 female and male students aged between 13 and 19, with a higher concentration in the 15-year-old (38%) and 16-year-old (26%) age groups. Participants were administered a questionnaire to collect quantitative data in two different surveys, pre- and post-intervention, in order to observe and evaluate any variations over time. Chapter 3 and Chapter 4 respectively report and discuss the main findings from the data analysis. Among the most significant findings was a pejorative variation in perceived well-being levels between the pre- and post-intervention phases. This evidence suggests that the processes of increased emotional awareness activated by the intervention may, in the short term, be accompanied by the onset of complex emotional experiences and a temporary reduction in perceived well-being; for this reason, a follow-up period must always be included, which was not possible during the project, a factor that thus falls within the scope of the research. Other observed findings include the correlation between psychosocial well-being and attachment to parents and peers, highlighting that a good relationship with the reference relational network is a predictor of the level of well-being; and the correlation between the feeling of mattering and perceived social support, interpreted according to a predictive ratio whereby the perception of support by the social network and the community to which they belong increases the sense of mattering. Finally, Chapter 5 describes the limitations of the study and the future prospects of the P.S.I.CO. intervention and project, in order to support better planning of future interventions aimed at promoting well-being and to underline the importance of scientific research in supporting social and community projects, both to consolidate their methodological foundations and to guide the design of replicable interventions.
