This thesis examines the relationship between different dietary patterns and depression in adults. It is mainly focused of Mediterranean diet, Western Diet and Plant-based diet, analyzing their potential effect on mental health. The study is based on different scientific literature, , sources from PubMed, Google Scholar. Evidence from systematic reviews, meta-analysis and observational studies are being studied to evaluate and examine how diet quality, nutririon intake, inflammation and gut-brain axis affect depressive symptoms. The aim of the thesis is to give a clearer overview of the association between diet and depression and highlight the potential role of diet in mental health.
