The thesis investigates how spatial planning in mountain protected areas can reconcile conservation goals with growing outdoor recreation, focusing on the Lessinia Regional Natural Park and comparing it with an Estonian case study. The theoretical framework combines landscape planning, ecosystem services and the concepts of territorial carrying capacity and compatibility, with specific attention to visitor flows, technogenic landscapes and green economy‑oriented strategies. In the empirical part, planning documents, indicators, zoning schemes and management practices are analysed in order to identify implicit translations of sustainability principles into regulations, infrastructures and governance arrangements, and to build a transferable methodological pathway for assessing tourism pressure. This pathway is then applied to the design proposal for Lessinia, where forest systems and the reorganisation of access, trails and rest areas are used to steer tourism towards forms of use that are more compatible with landscape quality and the conservation of ecosystem services.

Abstract
This pathway is then applied to the design proposal for Lessinia, where forest systems and the reorganisation of access, trails and rest areas are used to steer tourism towards forms of use that are more compatible with landscape quality and the conservation of ecosystem services.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
