Empathic Concern through a Suppression Lens: an experimental Investigation of Perspective-taking Effects on prosocial Behaviour and the moderating Roles of autistic Traits and Alexithymia

Perspective-taking research has been a dominant force in the experimental study of altruism and helping behaviour. However, recent theoretical developments and empirical findings have called into question their methodological designs and interpretations. This experimental study contributes to the research on perspective-taking effects on empathic concern and donation behaviour through a novel lens of empathic concern suppression. Furthermore, it explores the moderating roles of autistic traits and alexithymia in the general population.
