La riunificazione tedesca nella stampa italiana. Un'analisi sinottica dei quotidiani dell'epoca

The fall of the Berlin Wall radically changed the course of history, marking a turning point between the end of the Cold War and the beginning of a new era, with significant consequences for the European and international balance of power. It brought the so-called "German Question" back to the forefront, bringing an end to Germany's division into two states and laying the foundations for the process of European integration. This thesis aims to analyse and compare how the Italian press of the time reported these events, taking into account the ideological and stylistic differences among the four newspapers examined: La Stampa, L'Unità, Corriere della Sera, and Avanti. The analysis focuses on the historical events that unfolded between the summer of 1989 and December 1990. The study highlights the different narrative approaches adopted by these newspapers through a comparative analysis of their headlines, the issues they addressed, and the varying degrees of ideological engagement reflected in their reporting.

Il crollo del muro di Berlino cambiò in modo radicale il corso degli eventi e segnò uno spartiacque tra la fine della Guerra Fredda e l’inizio di una nuova epoca ed ebbe importanti ripercussioni sugli equilibri europei e internazionali. Fece riemergere il problema della cosiddetta “questione tedesca” decretando la fine della divisione della Germania in due stati e ponendo le basi per l’avvio del processo di integrazione europea. La presente tesi si propone di analizzare e confrontare come la stampa italiana dell’epoca ha raccontato gli eventi, alla luce delle differenze ideologiche e stilistiche presenti nelle quattro testate prese in esame; rispettivamente la Stampa, l’Unità, il Corriere della Sera e l’Avanti. L’analisi prende in considerazione gli eventi storici che si sviluppano nell’arco temporale che intercorre dall’estate del 1989 fino al dicembre 1990. La ricerca si propone di mettere in evidenza le diverse chiavi narrative con cui i giornali presentano i fatti, attraverso un confronto sinottico dei titoli, delle tematiche affrontate e il diverso grado di coinvolgimento ideologico presente nella narrazione dei fatti.
