The paper analyzes women's migration to Italy from a theoretical perspective, emphasizing their historical evolution, the distinctive features they assume compared to male migration, and the characteristics of the phenomenon in the contemporary context. It pays particular attention to the intersectional dimension, which highlights the dual vulnerability of foreign women, connected to both gender and their migration status. The paper considers two perspectives on the phenomenon of female migration: on the one hand, the vulnerability perspective, which highlights the difficulties of integration and the risk of perpetuating marginality and suffering, and on the other, the emancipation perspective, which recognizes women as active subjects in their own migration journey, and therefore capable of agency and potential protagonists of individual and socio-cultural transformations. Finally, the paper examines the initiatives promoted by Social Services to meet the needs of migrant women, with the aim of analyzing the main reception and integration interventions in the region and therefore understanding their potential. Attention, in particular, is focused on needs that are not being met, contributing to the persistence of multiple conditions of vulnerability.

Abstract
Attention, in particular, is focused on needs that are not being met, contributing to the persistence of multiple conditions of vulnerability.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
