This thesis project concerns the redesign and optimization of a modular linear axis with three independent carriages, a solution typically used for parallel robotics applications. The primary goal of the intervention was to overcome the mechanical and manufacturing criticalities found in the original prototype, aiming for functional and modular solutions with low production costs. Through the analysis of the initial model, significant structural limitations were identified, such as the presence of undercuts in the ABS supports that prevented proper 3D printing; these components were redesigned to be manufactured in separate sections, facilitating production and assembly . Regarding the transmission, the tensioning system was radically simplified: the use of complex brass blocks, which were subject to backlash, was abandoned in favor of direct adjustment via the displacement of the stepper motors. The system was further improved by repositioning the limit switches to optimize cable management and make their placement independent of the length of the slide guide. Finally, the project considered the belt tensioning verification according to the method reported in the belt manufacturer's catalog. The final result, implemented in a SolidWorks model, guarantees a working stroke of 430 mm with a trapezoidal velocity profile, offering an economical and modular solution for robotic motion.

Abstract
The final result, implemented in a SolidWorks model, guarantees a working stroke of 430 mm with a trapezoidal velocity profile, offering an economical and modular solution for robotic motion.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
