The following report will focus on the design of the new Octogen Production Plant for Pravisani S.p.A., a historic and highly specialized chemical company based in Sequals (Pordenone), and a leader in the manufacturing of explosives for civil use (primarily for mines, quarries, and infrastructural works). Octogen, also known as HMX, represents one of the most significant high explosives in modern industry, owing to its high detonation velocity and thermal stability—characteristics that make it indispensable in both infrastructural and special applications. The aim of this report is to define the synthesized product and the production process used, focusing the study primarily on the most critical part of the process: nitration. Specifically, it will analyze the reactor section and conduct a risk analysis through a HAZOP study. Given the highly exothermic nature and the sensitivity of the reagents involved in the nitration process, plant safety is of paramount importance. In this context, the HAZOP (Hazard and Operability Analysis) study serves as the critical tool to proactively identify operational deviations and ensure the integrity of the production site.

Abstract
In this context, the HAZOP (Hazard and Operability Analysis) study serves as the critical tool to proactively identify operational deviations and ensure the integrity of the production site.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
