Fourth-generation ultra-wide bandgap (UWBG) semiconductor materials, characterized by a high bandgap, significantly wider than that of semiconductors currently used in industry, open up considerable opportunities for research and development in several specialized electronics fields. Their potential could lead to enhanced performance in all those areas that require stringent specifications such as power electronics, high-frequency devices, deep-UV optoelectronics, and applications in extreme environments, where temperatures and radiation are high. This work examines the primary and most promising UWBG materials, their physical characteristics, and the technological challenges in manufacturing processes that must be overcome before they can be utilized on an industrial scale. Finally, their distinctive properties and corresponding potential application fields are analyzed.

Abstract
Finally, their distinctive properties and corresponding potential application fields are analyzed.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
