Fluvio–tidal transition zones represent dynamic depositional environments where river discharge interacts with marine forcing processes, producing complex sedimentary responses that reflect variations in hydrodynamic conditions. While these environments have been extensively studied in mesotidal and macrotidal systems, smaller microtidal river systems remain comparatively underrepresented in sedimentological research. This study investigates the sedimentary response to fluvio–microtidal interactions in the lower reach of the Fiora River, a small-scale riverine system discharging into the Tyrrhenian Sea along the central Italian coast.
