This thesis aims to analyze and compare the theme of death within the thought of Martin Heidegger and Friedrich Nietzsche, tracing a philosophical journey that unfolds from the experience of becoming aware of one's own mortality to the joyful acceptance of it, from the perspective of the human subject. The first part of the study focuses on the Heideggerian perspective, deeply analyzing the characteristics of Dasein and its definition as "Being-toward-death." In this view, the awareness of finitude does not lead to a nihilism; rather, it becomes the necessary condition to rescue existence from the anonymity of the "They" (das Man) and project it toward a dimension of authenticity. However, what allows the opening of Dasein to such authenticity is the attunement (Befindlichkeit) of anxiety (angst), which continues to accompany the individual throughout life and can be considered an emotional state that negatively influences life experiences. This aspect is also demonstrated by Irvin Yalom, an existential psychotherapist who dedicated his entire life to treating patients preoccupied with existential concerns, primarily the anxiety of dying. The second part of the work shifts to the thought of F. Nietzsche, focusing on the overcoming of passive nihilism through the doctrine of amor fati. Death and its related anxiety are no longer endured with dread, but are accepted and celebrated as an integral part of the game of life. In conclusion, the thesis reflects on the outlined journey, which starts from the condition of the subject, passes through the awareness of their mortal condition and the relative anxiety, and then proposes an overcoming through the Nietzschean "saying yes to life".
