The final thesis analyzes Francisco Goya's thought by relating his artistic production to the historical and social context of Spain between the 17th and 19th centuries. Through a biographical overview of the artist and an analysis of the context of the ancient regime and the Enlightenment reforms, the fundamental moments of his life are highlighted. The work focuses specifically on the theme of the mirror, explored both historically and symbolically and in relation to the concepts of identity, physiognomy, and representations of vices and virtues. This theoretical framework forms the basis for the analysis of the series El Espejo Indiscreto, the focus of the paper. Through the study of individual compositions, characterized by anthropomorphic and animal figures, the work highlights how the mirror becomes for Goya an instrument of observation and social criticism, capable of reflecting the behaviors of man and society of his time.

Abstract
The final thesis analyzes Francisco Goya's thought by relating his artistic production to the historical and social context of Spain between the 17th and 19th centuries. The work focuses specifically on the theme of the mirror, explored both historically and symbolically and in relation to the concepts of identity, physiognomy, and representations of vices and virtues. This theoretical framework forms the basis for the analysis of the series El Espejo Indiscreto, the focus of the paper. Through the study of individual compositions, characterized by anthropomorphic and animal figures, the work highlights how the mirror becomes for Goya an instrument of observation and social criticism, capable of reflecting the behaviors of man and society of his time.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
