This thesis focuses on the origins and performative evolutions of the choreographic genre of breaking. In the first chapter, a historical-critical examination of the main techniques of breakdance is offered, analyzing them chronologically from the birth of the phenomenon in the Bronx in the 1970s up to the present day, with particular attention to the artistic realities that have distinguished themselves both in the American and in the Italian scene. The second chapter highlights the evolutionary path of breaking toward certain forms of contamination with contemporary dance, taking as a sample example the case of the Bellanda Company, whose history, performances, and creative process are examined in depth. The third chapter, finally, is dedicated to a specific performance of the Company, "Simposio", thanks to whose analysis the peculiar characteristics of a 'new,' contaminated form of breaking are clarified.

Abstract
The third chapter, finally, is dedicated to a specific performance of the Company, "Simposio", thanks to whose analysis the peculiar characteristics of a 'new,' contaminated form of breaking are clarified.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
